A brief summary of the day of reopening

Last Sunday we, the users of the free shop in Bochum, organised our first opening hours in the new shop at Dorstener Straße 37. new and old users made themselves familiar with the new interior with coffee, tea and donated cakes. Actually, we wanted to celebrate our successful move from the Social Centre to our own space a bit bigger. Be certain, the desire is there to do this 🙂

Despite the lack of announcements, however, many people had become aware of the activities during the renovations at Dorstener Strasse 37. On the day of the new opening 70-100 people visited the shop between 3 and 6 pm. Not bad. There was enough going on and many found the atmosphere to be friendly and cosy. There is still a lot of work to be done at the facility (help is always welcome!), but since we do not consider ourselves a service company, we want to be calm and let the free desire to work take its course.

And the desire of many users is not small to take responsibility for the business. After the opening we sat together in a round of about a dozen new and old “shopkeepers* to plan the next weeks. In addition to the opening hours, which will take place every Wednesday and Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. until further notice, we would also like to participate in various street festivals still to come: among them the Kortlandfest (Saturday, 25.8.), the Kalakuta Soul Picnic in the Schmechtingwiesen (Sunday, 2.9.), the Alsenstraßenfest (Sunday, 16.9.), and an (not yet advertised) festival on the Hof Bergmann in Bochum-Laer (last weekend of September).

From now on we meet every Sunday at 6 pm in the shop to discuss current plans, opening hours, further renovations and so on. If you are interested in activities, just join us! We are happy!
